John Cornali, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Cornali has been providing his Albuquerque and surrounding area patients with exceptional comprehensive orthodontic care since 2001. Growing up in Silver City, New Mexico, Dr. Cornali knew he wanted to be a dentist by age 14. He attended Western New Mexico University where he majored in chemistry. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1981 where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. While there, he received the John and Roberta Weaver Award for Excellence in Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Cornali returned to Silver City to practice general dentistry for 18 years from 1981 to 1999. He then attended Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California, where he obtained both a Certificate and a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2001. While at Loma Linda University, Dr. Cornali received the Roland D. Walters Annual Orthodontics Research Award for recognition of research and the development of research protocols useful in advancing orthodontic treatment. His Masters Degree Thesis and research project, "A Continued Investigation of Craniofacial Growth in Infant Heart Transplant Recipients Receiving (the immunosuppressive drug) Cyclosporine", was later published in The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. In 2007 he completed a two-year advanced education course in Achieving Functional Goals in contemporary orthodontic treatment at Roth Williams International/Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.
Chosen as a “Top Orthodontist” of Albuquerque in 2008 and 2009 by dental colleagues in Albuquerque the Magazine, Dr. Cornali feels it is important to stay on the cutting-edge of orthodontics. Thus, he maintains memberships in many prestigious professional organizations to keep up to date on the latest technology. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, New Mexico Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Roth-Williams Society International and New Mexico Society of Orthodontists, of which he is a past president.
In his personal life, Dr. Cornali is engaged to Diane Powers and is the father of two grown boys, Benjamin and Kellen, has a daughter-in-law, Carin, and a granddaughter, Hana. He is also a private pilot who enjoys travel, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, scuba diving and golf.
